Syntheri Rocks

Syntheri Rocks are located in the dense forests and Kaneri River of the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a 300-foot-tall monolithic granite structure. The rock has been weathered in many nooks and crannies by nearby river currents and continuous erosion over thousands of years. These include countless blue rock pigeons and countless bee hives. Access to the event venue is controlled by the State Forestry Department with parking. You’ll need to get out of the parking lot and reach the base of the Syntheri rock.

Kavala Caves

Kavala Caves are located at Dandeli Sanctuary. Surrounded by rocks on a ridge overlooking the Kali River Valley, these natural caves were formed over millions of years by water seeping through porous rock. The cave is filled with ancient limestone formations. The cave is about 15 feet high, but the opening is only 1 meter high. Exploring these caves requires the use of a powerful flashlight. They are pitch black with lots of bats. Crawl about 30 feet on your hands and knees and the roof opens to a height of about 10 feet. A few steps further leads to a huge stalagmite resembling a Shiva Linga. Thousands of devotees flock to this place during the Maha Shivaratri festival. The view of the river valley from Kavala Cave is breathtaking.

Sadashivgad Fort

Sadashivgad Fort was built by King Sonda in 1698 on a hill he is 200 feet high. Now in ruins, only the arched entrance gate appears to be in good condition. There is also a statue of ShivajiMaharaj with his horse on top of the hill. Itoffers a spectacular view of the Kali River on one side & the Arabian Sea on the other.

Known for its design, located 21 kms from Gokarna.
